reporting suspicous indvdauls at door at night

We are new toi ring. One of the reasons we got a ring is to protect our property .  I recntly posted hat 2 men came to our door late a night asking to check the outside of our home fr insects. They were carrying flashlights and some srt of ID tags.We sad no and then they asked if they coud come during the day.We said no. they left in scooyers. Wanted to now if anyoe elae in the neighborhood had encountered these peopel at thier door? Post was denied. WHY? isnt this what tis neighborhood community is for? to keep neighbors safe ?
