Ring Device Placement Guide for Marley’s Smart Home

Do you ever wonder where the perfect placement is for your Ring devices around your home? I am excited to share a guide about the Smart Home Placement that works for me, Marley! I’ve put together a floor plan based off of my own personal setup, which includes the Ring Alarm, Smart Lighting, Security Cameras, and a Video Doorbell. Covering a 2,500 square feet area with a standard layout, I’ve mapped out my “Ring of Security,” in hopes that it will be a helpful visual example for everyone. Before I chose where to place my Ring devices I found the following information about how my devices connect to a home network and with one another. Here are some important notes that I considered when taking this approach:** * The Eero Pro, as my primary router, is responsible for connecting more of my Ring devices than the Eero Beacon. I also dedicate the 2.4 GHz network to Ring devices, whereas other devices in my home, such as my phone or computer, connect to 5 GHz or ethernet. This allows me to match the best signal based on distance between the router and connected device, as well as evenly distributes my network resources. * The Eero Pro router is placed strategically for optimal video connection with my Cameras and Video Doorbells, as well as to connect the two Power over Ethernet (PoE) capable Ring devices; the Alarm Base Station and Stick Up Camera Elite. * The Smart Lighting Bridge is the only Ring device using the Eero Beacon, and is placed in a centralized location in reference to other Smart Lighting devices, for optimal connection. It’s also important to note that none of my Ring devices around the home are placed behind appliances to also avoid as much interference as is possible. * Not only are most points of entry covered, but combining different Ring products has allowed me to use many [Linked devices](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360026206031-Linking-Your-Ring-Devices-Together-for-Enhanced-Security) and [Alexa integrations](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360031246412-Ring-Supported-Alexa-enabled-Devices) features. I hope this visual example has helped you decide where to place your Ring devices, or even to add to your “Ring of Security.” As each home is different, this general example of what is considered to be an optimal setup for my home, might not fit well at yours.
