I would be interested in Ring's response  to the issue  raised  regarding wifi jammers. Why hasn't a fix been provided?

Hi neighbors. Wi-Fi signal interference can affect the performance of any Wi-Fi enabled device. Issues with connectivity can be linked to a number of causes, including broadband network failures and high internet traffic.   Furthermore, for extra security, we recommend enabling encryption protocols provided through Wi-Fi Protected Access 2 (WPA2), a set of standards for your router. These protocols help keep your data protected and help secure your Ring devices’ data on the Wi-Fi network.   WEP is the oldest and least secure of standards, and you should not use WEP with any Ring device. WPA2 instead balances strong encryption with broad compatibility and will work with every Ring product.    To find out how to switch your Wi-Fi network to WPA2 security, consult the router’s owner’s manual. If your router is provided or serviced by your internet provider, you can contact them to find out how to switch to WPA2.   You can also utilize our Elite device line, which uses Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology to provide a hardwired source of power and a direct Ethernet connection to the customer’s router.

Blocking wireless signals is like cutting a wired network. While important to prevent network intrusion and manipulation of messages on the network, encryption does nothing to prevent signals from being blocked.

I find it amusing that Ring have avoided the question about wifi blockers totally (apart from the suggestion of buying a wired device) and then marking their comment as an "Accepted Solution" when its clearly not. Makes me laugh every time they do that. Almost like they get a bonus for every post marked as such...........

The reason why no fix has been provided is that there is none. Any wireless signal can be blocked with a jamming device. The only workaround is to develop a sensor in the form of a spectrum-analyser that will detect and notify you about attacks on wireless infrastructure. This should be included with any alarm-hub or smarthouse-hub that communicate wirelessly. Many wireless sensors only communicate state-changes to conserve battery and can easily be blocked by a jammer. An sensor-hub that has no mechanism to poll status of remote sensors remain unaware of anything happening while signals are blocked.

...and that's precisely the answer that Ring should have given. If the administrators of this forum don't know the answer, instead of waffling on about various subjects, none of which are actually solutions to the original question, they should refer, or defer to those who know more, not just send out useless spurious information.

RingFence is a jammer detector that sounds a siren if it detects one. Check it out as they are crowdfunding as of yesterday to get them made really cheaply. search for it on Indiegogo
