Problems connecting ring doorbell camera and outside camera to new sky broadband router
We have received a new Sky broadband router working off fibre broadband recently updated by BTOPENREACH. Have spoken to Ring help but I can’t quite believe what she’s telling me and wonder can anyone confirm. She says if the new wifi is 5 (it is actually 6 having confirmed with Sky - whatever that means) the doorbell and camera are not compatible and need to be linked to WiFi at 2.4. Surely this can’t be correct? Any advice would be appreciated. Thnx

Hi neighbors. This Help Center page has troubleshooting steps you can try for repeated failed setups. There is a step in there mentioned specifically when trying to connect to a Wi-Fi 6 router. I hope this helps.

UAn update on this, after speaking ti ring tech team, they sent me a ring chime Pro (2nd gen) which connected easily to wifi6 router. My ring devices connect to the ring chine Pro, all working fine and actually they were helpful and quick once I got through to the right people.

I have a similar problem with a new virginmedia router. Basically new routers are running wifi6 - typically wireless mode 802.11 b/g/n/ax The 2nd gen ring kit I bought last november will not connect to it and is obsolete all my other devices connect fine without any problem There are some workrounds, buy new ring pro kit - this says it recognises the ax wireless mode buy a new router to replace my new router buy some old wifi extenders to provide a downgraded signal to the ring devices Or dump ring devices and never buy them again. This is frankly disgusting that the new generation devices I bought last november are obsolete. If anyone from ring can comment or correct me I'd be more than grateful to be proven wrong.
