Solar Charger for Video Doorbell 4
solar-panel
troubleshooting

Hi, purchased one of the Solar Charger's for the Video Doorbell 4. The solar charger would not keep a doorbell charged, hard to tell if it was slowing the battery from draining at all. Tried it on two Video Doorbell 4's. Same result. Panel gets approx 4hrs of full sun per day in both tests. Charged the batter first via mains power to 100%. Fault solar panel maybe? Thanks in advance, Michael

Hi @mterlich. What is the RSSI for this device? This can be found in the Device Health section of the Ring app. Also, do you have any features such as [Snapshot Capture](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034443672-Using-Your-Snapshot-Capture-Feature) or [Smart Alerts](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360032947972-Refining-Your-Motion-Alert-Notifications-for-People-and-Other-Motions-) turned on? If so, try changing the settings or turning them off to see if that improves your battery life. Features like these are nice to have, but can cause your battery to drain quickly. Let me know what you find.

Sorry for the delayed response Tom. RSSI = 48 Both Snapshot Capture & Smart Notifications were on. Ive disabled both now. FYI we about 10 doorbells in total across our offices/properties. We use the solar panel without problem on most (a few are hardwired) these two doorbells are the only two we are using "Solar Charger" for. So far have never seen the charge go in a positive direction regardless of setting. Will wait a bit longer.....

Hi Tom, disabling features (snapshot capture and smart alerts) did give one of the door bells 3 days approx more life but I guess that was to be expected using less features? Still never seeing it charge the battery in a positive direction after 2 - 3 weeks of this new setup. Waste of time or warranty time? Thanks in advance, Michael
