We have had our doorbell 2 for about 2 weeks. Last night, it sounded like the doorbell rang but nobody pushed the button. Shortly after, we smelled a burning smell. I tracked it down to our original doorbell chime. It was stuck in the 'on' position as if someone was holding the doorbell button down and melted one of the rubber rings. Is this going to be more likely an issue at the doorbell or due to the transformer?

Wow, crazy I'm not the only one to have this happen. I had recommended transformer installed and within a week the exact same thing happened. So I've been running it off of battery. That was over a year ago lol. What's the verdict from the company?

Ring Gen 3 Video Doorbell and Chimes

I purchased the Gen3 Video Doorbell a while ago. To date, I have never gotten a wireless chime to work. I don't have access to an iOS device, only Android. What chimes are compatible with the Gen3 Video Doorbell or is there still a problem inside the Android Ring App that prevents establishing connection? I have tried to connect to the existing wired doorbell/chime transformer in the house...but apparently it is too old to function with Ring...and it will cost me way more to update/upgrade the existing hardwire setup.

Hi @JohnKeas. You can use a [Ring Chime](https://ring.com/collections/accessories/products/chime-gen2) or a [Ring Chime Pro](https://ring.com/collections/accessories/products/chime-pro-gen2) if you would prefer not to replace the existing chime kit in your home. Third-party wireless chimes are not going to be compatible, but the Ring Chimes I listed above will work with the Video Doorbell 3. I hope this information helps! :)
