Ring outdoor siren - power issue

My electrician arrived Friday and installed another security camera, latest one. (hard wired) He also installed the Ring Siren, the siren was wired with the Ring transformer and wire to an eklectircal sock (UK Mains). He also left in the batteries D type and inserted the rechargeable battery also. Today I called him back as the Siron wasn't recognised in the ring sustem, the tabs to the D battery had been removed. He took the D batteries out and the rechargeable battery also. After 30 seconds he put them back. At this stage the siren had, mains power on with Ring transformer, rechargeable battery in and D batteries in. The system managed to pair easily so I was quite pleased at this stage. But then I noticed the manins power, in the power options states, Not Connected. Before the electricain left he double checked the wiring and that the socket wasa live and switch on, they were. So I have a siren box fitted, I want it to be ion the mains as I am have paid the electricain for installing that. But Ring will not connect to the mains? I have tried going through the procedure in Ring again and when scanning the QR code it states device in system. Help please. Paul

Hi @PJT. This is definitely interesting. One question I have is, what is the signal strength that the Outdoor Siren is reporting? If it has a weak or low signal strength, it could have a hard time reporting the correct power status. If the signal strength doesn't seem to be the issue, I would definitely contact our support team. A Ring Alarm support agent should be able to sort this for you straight away. Please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406). We’re taking additional steps to protect our team and help reduce the spread of COVID-19, so this has resulted in longer than normal wait times. Hi Tom_Ring Thanks for your reply The camera is on the same wall they are about 6' apart. The camera has a RSSI of 64 and works well The Siren Box does not show the health results as the cameras etc do. I have tested the siren from my mobile and it works and the led lights work also. I will have to contact support but, I am not good on telephones as I am very deaf, is there a chat or email facility avaialable please. Paul

Hi @PJT. It is important to note that your Ring Cameras utilize a wifi signal and your Ring Alarm uses a Z-Wave signal to communicate with its connected devices. Right now, the only method we have for troubleshooting would be our phone service. I suggest having a friend or family member with you during the call to help facilitate a productive call.

I would be asking where the siren was located in relation to the Ring Alarm base station when it was paired up (using Z-wave). Then checking the signal strength on battery by holding it against the outside position it to be mounted. Also has the re-chargeable battery been fully charged overnight before being fitted. It may also be worth checking that you can have both batteries fitted simultaneously.

Not sure if related to original post but similar issues. I have just installed outside siren with battery pack and solar panel. But app indicates not connected and only indicates d cell batteries. Battery pack fully charged on install.

I had the same issue, the sirens hardware power wasnt working. I had brought a Ring DC power adapter 9V - 28v 12W . I swapped the connections on the DC side and it worked. In the instrustions for installation , its said it didnt matter which way it was connected ?

Hi neighbors. If you're having any power concerns with your Outdoor Siren, please try the following troubleshooting steps: - Check the signal strength that your Outdoor Siren is reporting. You can find some troubleshooting options [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360050832732) if your Outdoor Siren is not able to communicate with the Base Station. - If you decide to move your Outdoor Siren to improve the signal strength, [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360051326351) are some recommendations on where to mount it. - Review the hardwiring instructions for the Outdoor Siren in our Help Center article [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360050832752) to ensure that your Outdoor Siren is receiving adequate power. If you need assistance with the wiring, please consult a qualified electrician. If you still have power or connectivity concerns with your Outdoor Siren after reviewing the above information, please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available [here](https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/213608406) so they can take a closer look.
