False alarm
troubleshooting
Our ring alarm triggered tonight for no reason. It reported as a fire from one of our ring listener devices. Only the ring alarm triggered. None of the house smoke detectors went off. There was no fire. What would have caused this. We have had our ring alarm system for many years. This has never occurred before.

A listener is just a microphone tuned to hear your fire alarms. Anything with the same frequency at roughly the same volume will trigger the listener. Assuming you followed the setup instructions to the letter, you may never be able to find what triggered the device, especially if you were asleep at the time. But any sound in the house from cats meowing to the TV being on could have triggered it. If I were you I would remove the listener from the app, give it a good clean inside and check and remove insects and fluff, then refit it and go through the setup routine again.
