Home Plan
Husband and I had a home plan for the security cameras. Sadly he passed away in 2021. I phoned Ring at the time to say I would like his name changed to mine in the plan, nothing else changed address, bank account etc. I’ve been having problems with two of the cameras, I phoned them today and they say they are not under the warranty because I changed the account. Apparently they cancelled his account and started a fresh one under my name. I only asked name to be changed not account. Now I have no warranty cover even though I’m paying the subscription- is this legal what they’ve done?

I don’t agree with there reply. I updated the first name only. All other details stayed the same. I totally disagree that the account should have been cancelled because of this change. I had and still have the premium plan with them. I will to take it further. I will inform trading standards, and await there reply.

Hi @user_c1330a. I can't speak for what the policy was in 2021, but at this time it is not possible to transfer a Ring account from one person to another. In your situation, the Ring devices would have been removed from your husband's account and set up under yours. I cannot verify warranty status, as we don't have access to account information on the Ring Community. You can follow up with our social support team @Ring on Facebook, X, or Instagram to verify the warranty status of your Ring devices.
