Solar panel not workinga

Hi all, I have wired a ring solar panel to a ring video doorbell 3 plus but the solar status is ‘not connected’. I have measured 5vdc at the two terminals on the back of the doorbell. However the label next to the terminals states AC connection only but this solar panel is DC. Ring’s website clearly states the solar panel is compatible with ring video doorbell 3. Should this have worked?
