Sensors stop communicating to the base station
troubleshooting

I have 7 door and window Gen 1 and 2 sensors that were working fine for over a year. Here recently they have stopped working. They show open or offline.  I have a Gen 1 range extender also.  The battery charges are good.  I have 4 security cameras and doorbell camera that work fine. I have not made any changes.  Has their been a firmware update that is causing this?

Hi @aktechguy. The Ring Alarm components, such as the Contact Sensors and Range Extender, use Z-Wave rather than wifi to communicate with the Base Station. If the Contact Sensors are reporting as open, even though they are close, this indicates that they are not communicating with the Base Station. I'd recommend making sure the Base Station and Range Extender are online first. Next, you can find troubleshooting steps for the Gen 1 Contact Sensor here, and for the Gen 2 Contact Sensor here. If those steps don't work, please follow up with our support team at one of the numbers available here, or on Facebook @Ring. A member of our support team can take a closer look at things on the back end.

I have a video doorbell (2nd gen) that stopped working on the 17th. Being an IT network analyst I snooped my traffic and it is failing to get an IP via DHCP. Just keeps requesting one every 30 seconds, my router send it a reply and it doesn't work. I have about 20 smart devices on my network so I unplugged all of them. Issue is with the Ring firmware since 6/17/2024

Hi @user_300d09. Since your concern differs from the original post, I'd suggest creating a new topic in the appropriate category. In this case, the Doorbells category would be best. 😊
