Retrieve deleted videos
I started my trial account on Jan 3, so I thought I had until Feb 3 (today) to sign up for a plan. But to my surprise, all of my videos from the past month had been deleted before I signed up for a plan this morning. And I thought that once I signed up for a plan, I would get access back to my videos. But apparently, that's not the case. I used the chat service with customer service, but they said they couldn't help. I can't believe that there isn't an automated or manual way to request these deleted videos, especially when they were only deleted a few hours ago. It would make sense that a customer should be able to retrieve these videos within a reasonable amount of time. That's just good business. And it's good business to provide a grace period as well. I've worked in IT for many years and know that "deleted files" are merely tagged for deletion. And that is something that can easily be reversed or untagged. And I also know that all data centers have backups of their data and servers in case of a fire or natural disaster. These backups are usually store data for weeks or months. And there are simple ways to restore the backups. So on a technical level, there is no reason that videos deleted a day ago can't be recovered. Please let me know how to request these deleted video files or server backups. I can't believe that I'm the first person that assumed a month trial would take me to the same day next month. Or that I'm the first person or business that missed a deadline and wanted access to deleted videos. Why wouldn't Ring want to support these customers? A reasonable grace period of 30 days would meet the majority of customer needs and greatly increase their customer satisfaction. And that would not impact Ring's profit margin. Please let me know how to request these deleted video files or server backups. Thanks in advance, Edward Welsh

Yes, this is really strange and a bit of a dealbreaker. What if your card is replaced and the subscription is not renewed automatically? Are all the videos lost instantly then too?

Hi @user_97d03b. If you get a new card, it's best to manage your payment information on Ring.com. You can visit this page here for more information. If there is a lapse in coverage on your account, then videos that were saved will be automatically deleted.

Hi @user_80f6ec. Unfortunately, you cannot request deleted recordings. Once they are deleted, they are permanently gone.
