I am just moving into my new home and have wires running from the bell to a non-existing chime location. The problem is, there isnt a transformer anywhere in the house. There is a hot electrical line behind the chime wiring. Can i just install a transfomer there, connect doorbell guage wiring to that transformer, and connect doorbell wiring from the transformer to the chime? Has anyone done this before?
(The wireless ring is not an option as the area is too small on the front door)
