Snapshot feature disappeared

I don’t even have the option to enable it under Video Settings where all instructions say. But there is an option called Snapshot Capture under Device Settings. This is enabled but doesn’t work that I can see. This is on my video doorbell pro.

Is it obvious that there is a snapshot in the timeline if it has worked? Rings instructions for this as so typically half-assed.

Thanks

Is your Pro doorbell firmware up to date? Or does it have a number?

Hi. It’s firmware is 2.2.00097. It’s a Video Doorbell Pro. Also running the latest iOS version of the app cheers

Ok, I was on that build before the snapshot began to work. It took about 4 to 5 weeks before it just updated overnight on its own. Now it works perfectly. So, hang in there. It will update but it takes a little time. I tried to force it but it never worked. It’s rolling out slowly so it should come soon for you too.

Thanks. So you actually do have the option for Snapshot in your Video Settings, where as I don’t at the moment?

Correct. I could see the feature but it did not work until the firmware was updated. Once it reads up to date only, then the feature will work completely for you. Took 4 to 5 weeks from when I bought it to update.

Only bought my 1st camera in Jan and snapshot was there but this has now disappeared. Bought another camera a month ago and it’s in that one. This is absolutely ridiculous Ring seem to solve one problem then something else happens ?

How is yours today? It is still not working today on mine just wondering if anyone else was still having issues?

My rich notifications(little pic on the notification pop up on my phone) suddenly stopped working yesterday, on both my ring doorbell and my stick up cam.

My rich notifications pic previews has stopped working and it was so handy

Well glad it is not me because mine has also stopped working over the few days and nothing seems to fix it, and seeing quite a few people online are having the same issues so hopefully a fix is found soon as this featues is just to good to lose.

Hello neighbors, if you are currently experiencing the concern of your Rich Notifications not working for your battery devices, it is because this service is currently offline. Check out our Status Page for up to date information on this concern. Our team is working to resolve the issue to restore the service as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!

Yes, it’s not working for us either, I noticed it randomly stopped working a few days ago (August 10th, 2021 today) If this feature isn’t fixed, I’m going to stop paying a subscription to Ring and start using Amazon’s Wyze Doorbell instead.
I also noticed the problems started when they changed the way the app functions, it takes way longer now to load Live View. I want it back to the way it was when you opened the app.

If its offline flip it online. Function has been a huge difference in the app. Update of course did this. You guys beta test before roll out? With all IOS platforms? Think it’s time for doing a home based camera system I have all control of.

Yeah, this is a week now and still no update from Ring apart from the one last week, and that is not a good way to keep your customers happy, even if it’s a simple “we are still working on the problem” every few days would make consumers feel they have not been forgotten…so come on ring and let us know what is going on, keep your customers in the loop if you want them to continue to be customers.

Hi @gcd. To receive all the latest updates about a Ring outage, you can visit the Status page by clicking the Red Banner at the top of this page or by visiting the link provided in the marked solution for this post and clicking the Subscribe button. This will let you know whats going on and keep you in the loop. :slightly_smiling_face:

@Tom_Ring are you saying that Subscribing to updates will give updates? The status page ONLY says that Rich Notifications aren’t working for battery doorbells - from a week ago. No other update on that matter - so we don’t even know if it is being worked on.

@Riley_Ring you say to check status page for updates - the only mention is when it broke a week ago. No updates, no mention such as “Thanks for your patience, we are still working on it”. As far as we know, it’s not being worked on at all.

That is a rather rude reply if you ask me, as i was quite clear in my post that Ring need to let conumers know with ongoing updates, and pointing them to a page that says nothing but the sevice is down for over a week now is not what i call “keep you in the loop”.

We the consumers need to know what has casued the issue and what is being done about it, if anything, and as a paid service this is a very important part of customer service that Ring are not doing at this time, a few days and this approach would have been ok, but a week plus and on going and still nothing is not good customer relations…ring needs to do better.
Oh and while we are talking about that site you linked to, it shows Rich Noti issues starting on the on 5th Aug, then nothing, now excuse me for being dumb but every day since the 5th Aug it should be showing on that site as Rich notification are still down, but the site right up until today states “No issues”, so how is that informing customers of what is happening?

Rich notifications for the battery/solar stick up cam are still unavailable. Broken live view feature appears to be simultaneous. Recordings remain available. Firm ware up to date and WiFi is strong. Status update page does not appear to list accurate updates to this issue.
