Ring Doorbell 3 disconnects from wifi about once per minutec

New Ring Doorbell 3

  • Signal strength is fine (37 <- sitting on my router)
  • All other network devices working correctly
  • Appears to the app to be online for a few seconds at a time, but no alerts come through, nor is video available
  • Device is literally disconnecting and then reconnecting to the wifi about once/minute.
    • has DHCP reservation but problem occurs with/without one
  • Occurs regardless of wifi (5/2.4)
  • deleted/added (multiple times)
  • no change after factory hard reset
  • there is no firewall in place between the device and the router
  • have rebooted the router with identical results

Looks very much like a hardware problem to me, and searches haven’t turned up anyone with an identical problem.

Router log showing disconnect/reconnect cycle.

Hi @woijer. Thank you for detailing what steps you’ve tried so far in an effort to resolve the concerns you’re experiencing. Since you have tried much of the basic troubleshooting so far, it would be best for you to contact our support team so they can take a deeper look into this to determine why it is disconnecting. You can give our support team a call at one of the numbers available here. If you are outside of the US, please visit here to see how to contact support.

What a disappointing not answer @Caitlyn_Ring

Community forum. The whole purpose of these things is so that you can read about other people’s problems and how they solve them. When you funnel people into private support sessions you disenfranchise the community of this right.

I’ve noticed the network stack on my ring devices just sucks. They re DHCP discover 10 times a day even though they are connected to a continuous power supply.

The access points they are joined to are immaculate. No other device on my network has this many problems or anywhere near as many DHCP discovers. And my smart home networks gone well above 200 devices at this point. I’m a network engineer of 20 years. Your network stack is trash.
