Doorbells Feature Request

Add PROPER two factor authentication, using an app like Auth, Google Authenticator, etc. SMS two factor is not good enough.

Add the ability for the user to “Implement” a Firmware upgrade. I have 2 Ring Pros and of course both are at different Firmware levels. The user needs the option to Stay Current. You can see the Firmware level and tell if it is current but a user needs too be able to update and also to see the “fixes” available adn Firmware levels available.

Thanks

Agreed - it is too easy to get a carrier to issue a SIM card to the wrong person, and now they are getting your SMS two factor code.

If someone wants to go to that extreme, they’ll get it someway. Who’s going to go and do that? If your that concerned, you’d be better off with a closed system than Ring.

Number of mechanical bell rings > 1

Would be nice if Video Doorbell Pro can ring the mechanical chime a customizable number of times with a single push of the door bell button. Currently, a single ding-dong is insufficient.

If not mentioned already, integrate the functionality of the Rapid Ring App (quick Live View) into the mainstream Ring App, so that everything can be under one umbrella.

  1. Doorbell pro holiday or other face plates.
  2. Tone variety on the doorbell itself. ie you push the doorbell and a Metallica MIDI file plays. Or deck the halls for the holiday. You could clean up selling each Tone for a dollar!

Because my visitors don’t hear a chime when they push my Ring Doorbell 2, they don’t think it works. So, they end up knocking on my door instead. That means I sometimes miss visitors or deliveries when I’m in the back of my house. It would be very helpful if you were to add this feature. Thanks.

I agree! I would love to have Christmas music playing outside right now. The built in tone is annoying

I agree. I would like the home’s built in chime to be quiet when I have my ring chimes silenced or just when I dont want to hear it.

Hi I am a new owner of a video doorbell.

I am unable to connect to the internet.

Ring net does not appear on available wifi nets.

my wifi may be weak, but I dont know how to improve it.

I get alerts that connection to server is lost.

I have received some advice re these problems, but I have lost the thread

I think it would make sense to enable a doorbell press sound from the keypad. Most keypads are centerally located. We shouldn’t have to buy a chime, or chime pro to hear the doorbell. The keypad can play other chirps - why not play doobell press?

yes! this is silly… I have the keypad as well that plays other chirps - why not play doorbell press?? maybe cause they want you to buy the chime?? Makes no sense to me other than money.

I would feel sure that the keypad could have the ability to play a sound of some sout for doorbell rings but I would think it may not have the hardware and logic to do everything a Chime would do. The keypad is pretty simple and I am sure was developed to be easy and reasonably cheap for DIY installs. I would like to see a more substantial model be brought out from Ring for an advanced keypad that has chime capabilities, as well as a LCD screen that can show status, sensors that are open, etc. I would think it would cost a little more than the simple version, but for those that are using Ring as a platform for more complex alarm needs, it would be certainly welcome. I have 30 plus contact sensors, a bunch of motion detectors, two doorbell pro’s and a bunch of stickup and other cameras, as well as integrated Yale door locks. The app is great, but there are times I do not want to have a phone or tablet in my hand to see what contacts might be open or what area had a motion detected. Guess we need to remember that “Ring was not built in a day…”. Just part of my wish list, along with a dedicated glass break sensor, better contol on what cameras are doing and when (modes fully rolled out), more control on the zWave controller and perhaps even implementing the Zigbee controller as well (and not to forget greater network and access security that makes sense). Also keep improving the Aleaxa integration and yes - I would like to see HomeKit enabled as well. I’m looking for some great things in 2020 with Ring. Happy Holidays to the Ring Neigbors, new and old!

Hello since I updated my iPhone ring app I can no longer zoom the picture on the live view. I would like this fixed ASAP please.

Press the battery in the app it will tell you the percentage the battery is charged to

My only complaint about the ring pro is that the button must be pressed VERY hard for it to work! If not then it iether does not respond at all or only the bell rings and not the Chime.

Is there any way to may the button easier to use, especially for children or elderly people?

Can you please add an option in the Ring app to disable night vision? We have sufficient lighting and image would be much better if we could turn it off because so much of the IR light is hitting the wall directly next to the Ring, thus significantly drowning out the rest of the image.

This would be a great improvement.

Thanks
Robert

In addition to current doorbell sounds, would like a random set of dog barking to play from a speaker inside. Maybe controllable with an inside speaker that is connected to Ring Alarm. Given that thieves will be deterred if they think a dog is home, and that many thieves will ring the doorbell to make sure no one is home (giving some excuse like they’re lost if someone answers the door), I think this would be really effective at deterrance. Select a bunch of random audio files of dogs barking loudly. And then on top, we respond via the doorbell audio.

I would like to have the ability to set times to automatically switch between the two motion zones I have set up. I have a day zone and a night zone.
