How is it Secure? Ring is not Secure. the dont have a simple Glass break sensor

If I live in a two story house and someone break in through the window, they can just come in and do way much more damage if I am home! because the motion sensors will be off “home mode”

Hey @Unknown989 ! If you have an Alexa enabled device you can use the Alexa Guard feature which can listen for events such as glass break. Rest assured, we’ve sent your feedback to the team.

So Marley, you are telling me I should tell everyone who asks me about ring that they should buy also an Alexa because Ring is unreliable ?

I would switch my entire home and business alarm systems over to Ring right now if you provided glass break sensors. I’m not going to purchase Alexa and additional Echo’s to cover my house and business. I can’t use motion sensore because of having dogs. There are many glass break sensors on the market, Ring needs to partner with one of them and their alarm system business would increase 10x. It sounds like Alexa is the only partner benefiting from that partnership. Please add a glass break sensor!!!

I agree that a dedicated certified glass break sensor that will alarm and report to the monitoring company is needed. I like the Alexa away mode, but it does not trip the alarm. There are areas of the house I do not want an echo device bu do need glass break protection. Please let the product team know your customers are clammering for this product and feature.

Good Morning. I had this same concern as my downstairs living room is covered in windows, basically a sun room. I do have sensors on the doors and every window but as you mentioned, there is no glass break sensor. What I opted for was adding a motion sensor that covers the whole area of the room, and when I’m home mode, that motion sensor is armed. This allows me to know if anyone came through a window by breaking it the alarm will trip and alert us. This was prior to me knowing about the Alexa glass break feature.

My mother is 83 years young and may not remember the motion sensor is activated in a given room. She will want to get a blanket or extra clothes in a closet and trip the alarm.

Rather than “alarm by avoidance” (patent pending, lol) wouldn’t it make more sense to simply have glass break detectors that we can use on the Ring Alarm System so we feel safe and secure?

You can window sensors or motion sensors but the glass sensor would be good…I am sure they will come out with one soon.Alexa if linked to ring will listen for broken glass while ring is in armed mode also …Just a thought for now…

Worthless pointing motion sensors at windows in home mode with animals.

These posts about glass break sensors always seem to get buried to the 2nd or 3rd page rather quick.

Just trying to help keep them on the front page because it seems like an extremely popular request. Can’t believe its been over a year and they still haven’t come out with these yet. Not sure if the goal is to sell a security system or Amazon Alexia’s.

Yep, Ring is deliberatley choosing to not have a glass breakage detector - unlike every other alarm system in existence. I’d guess since Amazon owns Ring, Amazon has made the decision that the Echo (dot) will be the listening device. Amazon wants an Echo in every room so if you ask Ring about it, they’ll push the Echo Dot on you, and will even offer it for free (at least they did for me). I refused it because I don’t want always-on listening/recording devices in private spaces. Financially, Ring would obviously want a glass breakage device since people would buy 1 per room at a minimum, but Ring is beholden to their overlord Bezos.

Using guard does nothing at all! Please do not spread rumors. This is not a monitored service. It’s simply notifies her phone and that is all. It does not notify police or the monitoring company. I can’t believe a security company will offer a security system and not have a glass break sensor! That is the main sensor, besides door and window contacts, that you need in your system!

You cannot point a motion sensor at a window! You will have tons of false alarms. Please do not spread rumors.

I wouldn’t remember the motion sensor is on! Every other security company in the world uses glass break sensors! Motion sensors are pointless and only usable if you do not have large pets and you are not home. When you are home, you can’t really use motion sensors. Glass breaks are the only sensor that will alert you before someone enters your home!

How does a glass break sensor warn you before they get in your home? I have outside cams that warn me as they enter my property. And if I’m home, my dog will hear it too. No need for motion detectors when I’m home either. Sounds like you got the wrong system…

Man you love to post the same thing over and over. Who didn’t do their research? If it is so very important you should have made sure it came part of the system… It’s Rings’ s fault that you bought it knowing they did not have it.

Using an echo device offers nothing while your home! It only listens while AWAY and I have motion sensors that are set away as well. So I can’t just always set alarm go AWAY! secondly it doesn’t set off your alarm. It just messages you a sound clip of the noise! Ring needs a glass break option. You can have both but a real glass break is a necessity
