Alarm Feature Request

You can’t setup a schedule with the Ring app. I use a 3rd party app called Simple Commands that allows this and more.

Thanks

If I mount the keypad on the wall and have it plugged in as I do, The battery light should be able to be disabled so that I don’t have an annoying green light on all the time.

Thanks,

WeirDave

I apparently had a intermittent door sensor that did not detect the door was closed after I set the alarm. Three minutes later I get a call from Ring Alarm about a alarm with this door as opened. It was fully latched and closed. After many adjustments and tests, one time I had an open door and the door was physically closed. I replaced the sensor with a spare.

Feature needed the alarm should not go to alarm unless all sensors are cleared. The door was closed when the alarm was set as desigyto do.

The alarm will let you know when you try to arm it if any sensor is not cleared in the app and keypad. It was ask you to confirm the bypass of that sensor. It sounds like everything was cleared when you set the alarm. But something happened to that sensor after it was already set as being cleared. Maybe the gap between the sensor and magnet was just a tiny bit too far. Could be a few things as well.
See the link below. It explains this in detail. Hope this helps.

Please add keypad pin code requirement to app’s arm disarm actions.

This is a major security vulnerability. If a user looses their phone. Or their phone is stolen, the person in possesion now has access to their home address and arm disarm features as well as video, routines, etc.

I am a new Ring subscriber and expexted a more professional level security system than I feel I have recieved. This seems to be an oversight in the development of this system. Please add the requested feature on the next app update.

So, you don’t have any security set on your phone? That’s the first line in defense. Very few apps have security built in. If someone takes my device they cannot get in, I can remotely wipe it as well. If they power it off and on later it still won’t allow access to my phone. Maybe at some point they will add this feature, but for now protect your phone. Some phones even offer to lock any apps you want.

This is a feature request board intended to send requests to the developer. Work arounds do not provide accurate system flaw feed back and hide the necessity of required fixes.

If I do or dont run a security lock on my phone has no bearing on whether or not the app is secure in its design.

You are required to enter a pin code to arm and disarm your home from the keypad and while using Alexa Commands.

Most apps which are designed to be secure IE your banking requires log in and verification everytime you open the app. Your amazon acct regularly requests password login. You’re required to enable 2 factor authentication every time you access your ring account from a browser. The app SIMPLY grants full control of your families security unchecked. Which is flawed and overlooked, requiring a fix.

Would you be satisifed with a simple momentary switch at your front door which arms and disarms your security at the push of a button?

Or possibly we should allow the door bell to turn the alarm on and off when strangers ring the door bell and notify them via an Alexa routine “Welcome Stranger, come on in. I disarmed the alarm for you with the push of a button!” (This can also be achieved via routines if you actually wanted it).

It’s a community. If you don’t like that, no one is keeping you here. Do not tell anyone what they can or not say. Did I insult you? No. But you’re now acting like the child here. Try to be more mature…

My previous 30 year old alarm allowed us to press #Away or #Home to set the alarm into that mode, rather than having to enter the code and them press the Away or Home button.

Is there a similar feature with Ring?

I had a previous system that spoke what door sensor was activated. I like this feature vs just a beep.

Ring Alarm App - When you add a Shared User there should be an option that can turn off the alarm event history for that user. Only the Admin should be able to see the history. Or a Guest User should be able to use the app also with the limited functions of only being able to use alarm and door lock codes when you activate it for them. That way you wouldn’t have to worry about anyone seeing event history. I think this needs to be addressed. I have 2 Ring alarm systems and only have one activated for monitoring because of this reason. I would add the monitoring if I could get users able to use app without seeing admin info.

Another looked over feature. Option or Schedule to turn off motion sensor updates while the alarm system is not armed. Why would you need updates for this when the system is not armed?

Please allow sensors to be configured as imediate or delayed seperately for both home and away modes. I want my landing motion sensor to be delayed in home and immediate in away. This way I can use it to warn me in am to disarm the system before I do something that triggers the alarm.

Can we get voice chirps? I want everyone in my house to know what door has been accessed. If an intruder comes in want to hear “Basement Door opened” or “Guest Window opened”.

Also in addition to the request for in app pin code to disarm, if you ever add this please make it optional. I now use tasker and autoinput to automatically disarm my alarm in the morning. The requirement for a pin code would seriously hinder this. So either don’t do it, or if you do make it optional.

Support for zwave devices to open and close garage doors, specifically the Iris GD00Z-1 that is common when moving over from ADT. Device adds to Ring but app only offers On/Off commands and No Open/Close

Automatically turn off all/or selected motion detection on the cameras when the alarm is disabled. When the alarm is Armed, auto enable motion detection on the cameras.

Alternatively, auto disable the Motion Notifications for any selected cam when the alarm is disabled. When the alarm is Armed, auto enable the notifications.

This would apply to anyone who has the ring app installed for that system. It could also be selected who it applies to.

Thanks

I’d love to have a quick way to turn the alarm base station audio on/off/change volume from the dashboard in the mobile app.

We have a pool and we use multiple door contact sensors along with the alarm base station sound as a secondary safety precaution when young kids are in the house.

Right now it takes 7 steps each time to toggle it on and off in the app:

  1. Hambuger menu
  2. Devices
  3. Alarm base station
  4. Base station
  5. Audio settings
  6. Slide volume up or down
  7. Save

Hello.

I would like to request the ability to have the Ring Alarm base station to activate the Ring Floodlight Camera alarms. This would be a great way to extend the audible alarm. Add the ability for each Flood light camera not only light up during an event, but choose whether or nor to sound each cameras siren as well!
