Glass break sensor

at Teethdood … My windows are comprised of a large single pane on the bottom movable part and a single pane on the top … with each part having a removable criss-crossing frame (to give the illusion of six individual panes per part and to provide easy removal for cleaning the interior side). I would buy one sensor per window (probably for only the lower large pane). Same goes for my large bay windows that do not open … it is compirsed of one single huge glass window with a fake frame to make it look like many smaller panes. These window would only need a single sensor on the glass. These types of window are very common nowadays.

As for a choice between Ugly or Safety/Security … I’ll choose security. Now if there is a reliable “listening for breakage” sensor that can detect a window breaking, I would consider that.

It’s insane that Ring has neither released a glass break sensor, or integrated with a 3rd party option. Over 2 years Ring claims “glass break sensor is on the roadmap, but no release date”. Ring has released a Second Generation security system, yet there is still no glass break sensor. Since we’re closing in on 2.5 years, Ring customers have been more than patient. Time for Ring to deliver on years if promises.

I am considering returning my just bought system over this. Totally did not see that the “glass break” solution was dependant on guard, which does not arm in stay mode and cant leverage the rings backup internet. Glass break is a MUST esspecially for people with door sized single pane windows.

Please come out with a glass break sensor. I’ve been requesting this for years and will continue to request it until Ring comes out with one.

Let your “Thumbs Up” be seen as your vote for Glass Break Sensors. Ring Teams notice Feature Requests with higher Thumbs Up numbers, and then are more likely to concern the request. There are other Glass Break Sensor Requests on the Feature Board. Across other topic areas (just not here in the Feature Board topic area) there are also many that I’ve probably missed a few links. But if you think this “Glass Break Sensor” device would be nice to have, click on the links below and then click the Thumbs Up Icon.

At this point, the lack of glass break sensors is the only reason I am not buying this system. I hope they add them soon because I am on a timer for my purchase decision.

Fantastic Idea, I literally just came to the forums to submit a request for this but thankfully I did a search first. Please add glass break/tamper sensors

@Nikkione , don’t forget to go the other 4 “Feature-Request-Board” links above, to click on the “Thumbs Up” on these other requests for Glass Break sensors, and add your Kudo vote with us! More votes for this request will get the attention of the Ring Team.

Most of your competition has a glass break sensor available. One simple question. Why doesn’t Ring?

I would have gone with a different company had I known Ring does not have a glass break sensor. But also, so many people are requesting it, why would they not want to profit off it while at the same time making customers happy ? Doesn’t make any sense.

This seems like such a simple thing to do. I cannot understand why Ring has not done this yet.

Hi guys, i was a bit concerned about this as well. However, the echo show that i own now provides a solution with a feature called “Alexa guard” when you place your home into away mode, the microphone on your echo device is used to catch high frequency sounds and fire alarms. This allows you to receive a notification and trigger your alarm. I hope this helps!

Here is a link to the Alexa guard ring setup: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360028205592-Using-Alexa-Guard-with-Alarm-to-Detect-Broken-Glass-Smoke-and-Carbon-Monoxide

Hi @Delgado89 ,

I would disagree. It is not a solution. Although when you place your home into away mode, the microphone on your echo device can be used to catch high frequency sounds and fire alarms . . . that part is true, but . . .

This allows you to receive a notification, but it DOES NOT trigger your alarm. It sends you an Alert Notification and then YOU have to request help or trigger your alarm manually.

When you carefully read the words (from the link that you attached) "

  • Forward the alert to Ring via the “Send to Ring” button in the Alexa app in order to request help if professionally monitored or sound the siren if self-monitored.

An easy misunderstanding @Delgado89 , but definitely not a solution. Ring needs to provide a Glass Break SENSOR that triggers the Alarm Base Station automatically

I ditto this. A native glass break sensor without needing to use Alexa Guard is crucial to any home alarm system.

Need to get a glass break sensor. Other systems have it. It will make you money. Don’t understand the lack of development.

What is wrong with Ring. You can make a flying drone that no one asked for but you can’t make a glass break sensor or an external siren. I’m seriously thinking of ditching the all ring products and replacing them with alternatives.
