Ability to reboot devices from app

Love this idea! Please develop a way to reset my chime and doorbell remotely. The reason I have it is because I am not there. It always seems to lose WiFi when I am not there, so it is useless until I am physically next to it.

Yes, we need to be able to power-cycle without flipping the breaker or climbing up on a ladder to power cycle the camera.

The ability to Reset a Ring Device (Floodlight Cam, Spotlight Cam, Stick Up, Video Doorbells, Chime Pro, Chime) from the app should be provided. It is sometimes (always) inconvenient to have to open up a Doorbell anor access the button on a Floodlight/Spotlight/Stick Up Cam or Chime. This perhaps could even be used to trigger much needed Firnware Updates which only seem to occur if you reset the device or remove the battery.

This feature is critical! I have several cameras that are very remote, connected over a Wireless mesh. When the mesh controller needs to be rebooted, the cameras will connect (with horrible Wifi signal) back to main network, and I have to wait for HOURS for them to switch back to the Mesh AP that is just a few feet away. The cameras are worthless until they are connected back to the Mesh AP. The ability to reboot these cameras after the mesh controller is reset would be an ideal solution. If you cannot provide a reboot, maybe at least a software Wifi reset?

Driving a ladder down to the main gate, then climbing the ladder to manually push a botton on each entry camera is ludacrous.

You can install a wifi relay switch inline with the power supplied to the light. I installed a “Shelly 1”. Took about 5 mins and fits perfectly inside the mounting bracket hole. Look it up Amazon. I supplied a wiring diagram for the floodlight. Good luck.

Ability to potentially reboot individual cameras would be great. As I have a bigger house, the WiFi has sometimes issues, I have 3 WiFi Access Points around the house, but it seems not always to be changing to the closer point, so restarting (at the moment by removing battery and putting back in again) would help it find the better signal for WiFi.

Please add this feature to camera firmware and the app, the ability to reboot the camera remotely.

Totally agreed. This will save me crawling under the desk to off and on the mains power. And I have 5 of them.

I have a Mesh Wi-Fi system and for unknown reasons, my Ring cameras randomly connect to the worst possible mesh node instead of one just a few metres away. Once they have done this, the only way to resolve it is to reboot the entire mesh system or remove and replace the battery from the Ring device. This is not an acceptable solution and it is something that I would like Ring to address.

I also believe this would be a great ideal… My driveway stickup cam is the issue… I reboot my internet for any reason my cam will not connect back unless I hard reset it I got to get a ladder out the garage and get to it cuz it’s up there pretty high… and do that… I really wish they would add on a reboot or a soft power cycle or somethin to cut it off so it can start back up and connect right…

Likewise, I contacted Ring directly via Twitter many months ago, and I can’t see how/why this hasn’t been implemented yet. At the very least you would expect this to be a debug feature - utterly ridiculous that a device has to be manually reset every time it connects to the wrong/weak node of a wireless network. One wonders how such a valuable company can get the basics so wrong…

I agree 10000%. It’s extremely inconvenient and painful process to get up the ladder to press the re-set button.
I don’t see the mind set of the engineers as to what they were thinking when designing this product…

Could not agree more. I’m a 70+++ old lady and I can’t climb ladders which actually bars oldies from being able to use these products. It’s age discrimination. I’ve paid for this system, and for someone to set it up only to find I can’t use it as my WiFi password has changed. In this day and age it should be simple to just change the setting on the app. Why aren’t RING doing something about it?

Yes this is important and odd that we cannot do this with the app.

Those reset buttons are often quite a hassle to get to. Such as climbing ladders, or removing security screw and faceplate from doorbell.

And of course, impossible if you are traveling.

With Ring you’re always home? Not exactly…
