@AndyP As stated in the post that has been marked as a solution, if you are still experiencing any concerns with your device not updating sounds, please reach out to our support team here for further troubleshooting. They will be able to help you out to get your device back working as it should.

Having the same problem. Have tried all of these remedies.

I am still getting the same error message.

@upperolive @Benkohns If you can, please reach out to our support team here for further assistance on this matter.

Still does not work and support can not help

Same problem here, brand new ring pro, installed yesterday, everything working OK, successfully changed tone from default to the second one on the list (first step in checking each of them out, to choose which one to go with)… now won’t let me change anything and stuck on that second one. “Sorry something went wrong” message, as others have described here.

Hey neighbors! Thank you for reporting this information to us again. While this was resolved before, after looking back into this with the appropriate teams, it looks like the concern has been re-opened and is under investigation again. I will make sure to keep you updated when I have more information as we work towards a more permanent fix. Thank you for your patience!

Edit as of 3/25/2020: This should be only happening on the iOS version of the Ring app. If you have an Android device, please attempt to update the Chime sound from there. If you do not have an Android device, I will make sure to update this thread once we have the fix for iOS. Additionally, please comment if you have an Android device and are still getting this error message.

For now, I have accepted this post as a solution. While we are aware of this concern and as the team continues to investigate, this is a helpful way for other neighbors that come into this thread to know the latest update. We appreciate your patience and will continue to update this thread with more information. Thank you.

I have an Android phone and still can’t change the ringtone on my Chime.

I have exact the same problem as other users - only “Ring Default” works. When I try to change the tone the system says “Your Chime is updating, please wait a moment”. I then pres the “Okay” button and then nothing more happens and the App on my Android phone no longer responds. I then have to close the Ring app and restart it to get access to the app again and then the ringtone is back to default. I’m using a Samsung Galaxy Note9 with the latest updated Android-version 10 installed.

A quick fix would be much appreciated! Thanks!

This issue was NOT solved. Disappointing Ring marked it as such.

I’m experiencing the same problem on Android.

I tap Save Changes, then Okay and the app becomes unresponsive.

I’ve let it run and try to update for an hour. After I end the app, open it again and go back into the chime tone settings, nothing has changed.

My sincere reccomendation would be to factory reset the device and give up on making changes. Ring (now owned by Amazon) has given up on fixing problems as long as they can get others to buy products. It is real sad, I used to like it and them. Now I just wish I had never bought into their promise.

Just set mine up. Same problem for me. Can’t change ringtones. Why does it take so long time to solve the problem? Is googles doorbell better? I can still return mine.

Hey neighbors! This concern was previously addressed and resolved. If you are still having this error, could you please attach a screen recording of what you are running into? Once you have the MP4 file, you can create it into a zip file that can be attached to your reply here! To create a zip file, you will have to compress the file, or zip from from your phone or PC. You can also upload the video to youtube and share the link here! I would love to see what you’re running into since this concern was previously resolved.

Including a YouTube screen video. The same message appears that has been appearing for months. I have tried every solution that has been offered in this thread.

If the video below doesn’t work, here is the link:
