Wireless spotlight cams fogging up at night

Any updates? I thought I was alone until I saw this thread. Mine fogs up and it’s not located near vents etc either.

I just installed mine yesterday and it fogged you last night. Cleared up about 10am. The video at night would be unusable if needed.

My spotlight cam does this to …did anyone find a remedy?

Rain-X for plastic did the job for me.

I am having the same issue with my new security camera. It is clear during the day but as it gets dark it fogs up. I read that it has to do with small particles on the outside lense, so I cleaned it and it didn’t help. Frustrating since it was not inexpensive.

I have 8 cameras. 3 of them have so much fog that if there was criminal activity I wouldnt see a thing. 2 are battery-operated and one has a solar pannel. Its a mess. Very disapointing.

Ring cam fogged up also. I asked neighborhood community for help and ring deleted my post. Said it doesn’t have anything to do with security. What? Fogged up lens so I cannot see who’s at my front door has everything to do with security However, pictures of lost cats and dogs is acceptable they say. They have an issue they can not or have not rectified. Bad for sales.

The only way I was able to fix this problem was to apply turtle wax. First you apply the wax on the camera lens, then wipe it clean after letting it sit for about two minutes. I hope this helps.

RING will not help nor find a remedy for those fogged up battery operated cameras. Go with wired cameras instead.

My battery spotlight cam has started fogging up now the weather is getting colder. Really disappointed as my Ring doorbell is great, that’s why I got the spotlight for the back but practically useless in the hours it fogs up, no security benefit at all in that time spell.

I’m having this issue too on my spotlight battery cam. Didn’t notice this until I check on my duck last night. This is not good like everyone say you can not see anyone our what is going on. The fog went away when I left the live view on, this is not a good now i would start to lose battery life faster. If this is a issue way haven’t Ring have a solutions beside using Rain X.

Hi Jennifer! Any updates on this?

Hey neighbors! As previously recommended by Marley in this thread, we recommend checking the surrounding area of your Camera for any potential causes such as dryer vents, heat exhaust, air conditioning units, etc. If this lens fog is happening merely due to a humid or moist environment, we have seen some neighbors use a water or fog repellent solution on the lens to help.

If none of the solutions suggested in this thread are working for you, please give our support team a call at one of the numbers available here so they can take a closer look and see what other solutions may help. We’re taking additional steps to protect our team and help reduce the spread of COVID-19, so this has resulted in longer than normal wait times. I just put up new ring wireless stick up camera outside my warehouse with the solar panel. Easy hookup and app connection. Beautiful pic. Then around dark looks like fog on the lens. Googled the issue and find hundreds of complaints. Call ring tech support and they say this is the first we hear if this, really?. They have me drag out a ladder and reset the cam etc. changes nothing. I have the same setup - older model - around the corner and never had this issue. So their solution is for me to uninstall and return it to Home Depot for a new one that I assume will have the same issue. So, guess I’ll get a different brand. Sad.

RETURN IT.
Buy another brand.
We have several Ring products. Some work fine. The one that matters over our cars is 5 feet from a Blink camera and this is what I see this morning. 28 degrees F.

The fogged over one is the Ring wireless.
The clearer one is a Blink wireless.
The choice is clear.
I’ve just spent an hour going thru Ring threads. Ring isn’t going to solve this issue.
They say it’s the weather. That’s a cop out response.
I’ll be updating my Amazon review as well.
Our other 3 Ring cameras are fine, but this fogged over one is sealing the decision.

We have this issue and it is clearly a manufacturing defect. I live in Concord CA where it now gets in the low 30s and we are experiencing relatively higher humidity. As a result the condensation on “shiny” things, is present universally in the morning around here. The condensation is building up inside the unit, behind the face of the lens. I’ve already treated this with anti fog and wiped it to no avail. I currently have a ring 2 and would like to exchange for one that does not fog up. We’ve had this for 3 years now, same issue. There are no heat vents, dryers, etc creating this issue.

Same problem for me as well. Have 3 spotlight cams and 1 fogs up every night now. Eventually clears up by late morning only to fog up again in late evening. As others have reported, this camera is not located near vents or any source of condensation other than weather.
Are there any successful solution updates from Ring or the Ring Community?
Thanks…

Hi there, neighbors! Our outdoor devices are rated for weather resistance. That being said, we advise avoiding any direct torrential or submerging water and extreme climate conditions. There are times when environmental factors such as temperature or moisture can impact an outdoor device. For a lens with water or condensation, we have seen other neighbors report success with using a solution like Rainx. Other solutions may be different brands of anti-fog, DIY covers, or even a different mounting location.Bringing your Ring device inside is also a great step to take.
