I just found the problem, it’s an easy fix!!!
I had power at the existing door bell wiring terminals but not at the two terminals they feed power to . The terminals are coated to protect from corrosion. I lightly sanded them and everything works great. Ring charges, shows hardwired and actually works as a doorbell. See the attached photo
