Ring doorbell not activating with Amazon Deliveries

Been hearing from many ring users the same . So when the criminals get their hands on whatever devices they use our Ring cameras are worthless?

I wonder the same thing… this also happened to my Amazon deliveries lately. I got noticed the package was delivered but no Ring alert.

I noticed the same thing. The delivery van wasn’t picked up, the delivery person walked right by it twice and nothing. I noticed in the reflection of my tv screen and when I walked out to pick up the package it went off just fine.
I checked to make sure and it was online, the motion sensitivity should most definitely work when you’re walking directly past it.
Something is up. This is the third time I’ve noticed and it’s only Amazon.
Just doesn’t make any sense.

It is interesting that every response from Ring is acting as though this phenomena does not exist. Sounds like it time to go to another service and get the word out that Riing must be endorsing or benefiting off of this practice by Amazon and UPS.

Their responses actually are even more offensive because it acts like we are making this up…Adjust motion settings?? really

I has the same problem, today I received a package from Amazon and I wasn’t able to find the record of the moment that the Amazon driver left the package, but each time that my neighbor passed in front mi apartment it get recorded. I going to instal my old camera system that is wired.

Thank you

Everytime an amazon driver delivers all i see is the motion of the truck pulling up. There is no “Person dectected”. Amazon is doing something shady…

I just had one of these on Saturday (9/12/2020). I have a Ring Video Doorbell Pro, 4015.0 mV, RSSI -37.0.

  • 9:47am: video of squirrel running across porch
  • 1:42pm: video of USPS delivering mail
  • 3:20pm?: [no video] Amazon package delivered, driver knocks on door
  • 3:24pm: video of me collecting package from front door; Amazon van still parked in front of house

For all I know, the delivery person teleported it onto the porch and knocked with telekinetic powers, but that seems unlikely. The camera picks up squirrels (and cats and skunks) that walk past the porch, so an adult walking up, knocking on the door, and walking away should absolutely register as motion.

It would really help to have some sort of diagnostic ability. Was the camera functioning and failed to pick up the motion? Was it rebooting after a remote update? Did it detect motion but decide not to record? When there’s no way to gain insight into the workings of the device, we’re left with speculation or just declaring it unreliable.

I first posted about this phenomenon in my NextDoor neighborhood on 8/25/2020 and other people have noticed it as well.

I get dozens of alerts throughout the day as cars and trucks drive past my house, but the Amazon Delivery person won’t trigger motion or show up on my Ring doorbell or driveway stick up cam, except occasionally catching the rear bumper of the delivery van for a second at the start of a motion new video as the van leaves. Most times it’s never triggered, even when they leave.

I’ll only know a delivery is happening when my dog goes nuts with the Amazon van pulling up, or when my Amazon echo lets me know I have a new notification. When the dog goes nuts I’ll be able to watch the delivery person run all the way up the driveway to the door, drop it off, and run down the porch and driveway, with no motion alert. The second I step out to grab the package the motion alert goes off.

The drivers used to ring the doorbell, unless it was after 8pm, but now they NEVER ring the doorbell. UPS and FedEx still press my doorbell when they make a delivery.

Just happened to me today - had company leave followed by black line of package delivery - I suggest we add delivery instructions to ring doorbell

I agree with everyone here. I just received a package this morning. There is no way that the delivery person would not get detection unless like everyone is saying that they have some sort of jammer. If this is indeed a fact, it would post a hugh problem for everyone here.

Same here, had Ring about a week & and our first Amazon delivery nothing. What is more suspicious I was trying to connect to my Ring live feed & it was freezing on try to connect screen for 5min. When you go back to video there’s no blackout period. Its just like nothing happened. The picture doesnt even show the Amazon driver pulling up or driving away.

I have noticed also that my ring doorbell is not detecting an Amazon delivery driver. I had a package dropped off on my door step today 10/19/20. The mail was delivered right before this and ring detected the mailman with no problem. I’ve noticed this on several occasions before and now it is annoying me. Something is definitely going on with Amazon delivery drivers blocking ringdoorbell motion detection. I’m concerned because criminals will likely get a hold of whatever these drivers are using to block the motion sensors.

We just installed a ring peephole and a separate ring outdoor camera to cover more area and a leaf blowing by sets off both phones 4 alexas and 2 echo shows but I get Amazon deliveries almost daily and they are like Big Foot! No alerts and nothing at all when I look for them. Today I had a fed ex delivery and he activated the camera, 10 minutes later alexa announced a package had arrived. I watched all the footage between getting my fed ex package and the alexa alert and there was no Amazon van or driver so Im left to assume they have mastered the art of teleportation
