Hello @Lisab_678 ,

If it is saying that it is already registered to someone (“Ownership” feature), that means someone else had previously setup your doorbell. If you purchased this new from a store, you should return it for a refund/exchange, because it is a “Used” device, not New. This Ownership feature helps deter theft of doorbells, since the thief would be in possession of a non-functioning device (and Ring would even replace a stolen doorbell or camera).

If you knew this was a used/previously-owned doorbell, you need the previous owner to release their ownership on this device through there Ring App to “Remove this device”. But you said that you do not know who that person might be. If you did know, the way their do this is by the previous owner logging onto their Ring App using their email/password, and then: Main Menu (the 3 horizontal line icon, upper-left-corner of Dashboard > Devices > select the doorbell you have > Device Settings (blue Gear Icon) > General Settings > Remove this Device.

If you purchased this through a non-store (ebay, flea-market, etc.), then you might be totally out of luck, unless on the very slim chance that the previous owner, who is receiving an automatic notice from Ring (since you attempted to setup your doorbell), is nice enough to actually release the Ownership.

But you could also telephone Ring Support to see if there is anything that they can do to help you (but I doubt it):

Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19, their available hours have been changed also:

I hope you did purchase this from a authorized Ring product store, and therefore can get a refund/exchange. And I hope you find this information helpful
