Email is better than SMS for 2FA

I have now received two notifications through the ring app to please upgrade my 2FA to SMS.

Email is more secure than SMS for 2FA.

Phone carrier’s support can be socially hacked to hand over the “keys” to a mobile account, allowing users to swap to a new sim card in the middle of the night, negating 2FA.

However, it would appear that I cannot recover a lost password via SMS alone, so that is good. Please keep that in mind so that SMS can never be used solely to gain access to an account.

But in the meantime, please stop sending notifications to switch to SMS.
