Doorbell transformer compatibility

Hi there I just got a ring 2nd gen and got it set up, but not installed yet. Kit didn’t come with the doorbell chime bypass wire so I have that coming this week. My question- transformer is 10VA,16V and the specs for this are 10-40VA, 10-24 VAC. Will my Ring work with existing transformer? I’d hate to have to get a new one and wire that up. Thanks!

Hi @JMC1970. If you are referring to the Ring Video Doorbell Wired, which requires installing the Jumper Cable that bypasses your internal chime, then your transformer needs to meet the requirements of 10–24 VAC, 20 VA minimum, and 40 VA maximum in the US. If you are referring to the Ring Video Doorbell 2nd generation, it does not come with or require a Jumper Cable. If you hardwire this Doorbell then your transformer needs to meet the requirements of 8–24 VAC, 40 VA maximum, and 50/60 Hz.
