It is not a question of whether or not @MHouse44721 receives his Two-Factor-Authentication by email or text. He is referring to the fact that on member-login into Ring websites, users are constantly having to keep re-logging-in and repeating the TFA over and over again if idle-time is exceeded. It is extremely excessive, more than even what banks require. I really like the 30-45 day idea.
Ring had to quickly respond to the two cases. I agree with @jkyoung RIng hurried implementation. It definitely needs adjustment, so we donāt have to perform an exorbitant amounts of TFA procedures.
Iām so glad they do not log you off your smart-phone app or the PC-app (unless you log out intentionally).
Please, please consider adding support for Google Authenticator (or Microsoft, or Authy, or any compatible authenticator app). Getting codes via SMS is such a pain, and isnāt as secure. This is better than nothing, but allowing an Authenticator app to replace it would be way better. Thanks!
I agree 100% I am very new here, havenāt even installed the doorbell yet (waiting for the battery to charge - considering it says it arrives 50% charged, it seems to take forever. 5 hours and counting!) so I thought Iād familiarise myself with the website while waiting. So far, I had to log in 6 times! Seems every time I follow a link to another page, it asks me to log in again.
In fact I came here to complain about this, and found that I am not the first
I agree too. We need to be able to remember a specific device and leave it logged in. The 2FA is way too annoying. I have logged in serveral times today (in the last hour) already.
Let us all unite our voices concerning the current Two-Step-Verification process! You arenāt alone. This has been an ongoing issue across many other topic areas, just not here in the Feature Request Board area. There are also many, many Two-Step-Verification posts across the entire Ring Community!
Ring has made some verification improvements. After you initially log-in verify, you donāt need to repeat this process on some Ring apps (smart-phone apps, Windows 10 apps, the Ring Community website, etc.) as long as you do not log-off. Thank you Ring! ? But still some areas, like the Ring website, still have this repetitive annoying issue (automatically logged-off after idle-time, and have to repeat this verification cycle).
Let your āThumbs Upā be your vote to improve Two-Step-Verification method! Ring Teams notices Feature Request Board with higher Thumbs Up numbers, and therefore are more likely incorporate the request. I apologize if I missed some of the Two-Step-Authentication posts on this Feature Board, and I did not link to this topic already posted in other non-Feature Request Board areas (too many). I couldnāt agree more. Itās frustrating to be forced through the two-step authentication process when I just want to check this forum! There is no need for this level of security for the vast majority of app activity. It should be much more user-friendly.
Thanks to @Boone for the list of similar requests. Unfortunately, the links arenāt functioning as hyperlinks, and I have to manually search for each one. I guess thatās another feature request!
